Newbold School events
The PTFA are continuously working on fund raisers and social events for our students families and friends. Here is a sample of some of the events that we plan during the year.
Bake sales are no longer just a fund raiser at Newbold School they have become a real social occasion. The students, families, teachers and community come together to enjoy some delicious food while enjoying each others company, parents chatting and children playing. There's never a week that goes by without somebody asking: "When is the next bake sale?"
We provide healthy (mostly home made) vegetarian food from pizza to vegetable curry, salad to spring rolls, paella, fruit and of course, you couldnt have a bake sale without lots of cake.
Through these very popular bake sales we raise funds for different projects within our school‚ and get a chance to socialise and get to know each other a bit better.
MOTHERS DAY COFFEE MORNING
As usual we will be holding a free coffee morning for all our lovely mums and grandmas or even dads if they would like to join us. This has been quite special the last few years with our F1 and F2 children giving a unique performance of songs poems and readings to our families. This will be held in the school hall the Friday before Mothering Sunday. All welcome.
FATHERS DAY BREAKFAST
We too celebrate fathers‚ father figures and grandpas in their annual "Fathers Day Breakfast"‚ where a scrumptious breakfast is served for them and the children.
Toast‚ eggs‚ baked beans‚ mushrooms‚ hash-browns along with coffee‚ cereal‚ jam‚ peanut butter and juice to satisfy every taste!
On this day‚ father figures of F1 & F2 children are invited to stay and play.
DECORATE THE EGG COMPETITION
As a part of our Easter celebrations we normally have either an egg or bonnet decorating competition. For the egg competition‚ hard boiled eggs are given out to all pupils during the last week of the Spring term. To enter the competition you just need to return the egg decorated alongside £1. Parents are encouraged to pop in and see the entrees! They are normally great fun and you will see many different ideas and just what artistic children we have at Newbold. Prizes will be given out to the winners in the final assemble before we break up for Easter.
DECORATE THE EASTER BONNET COMPETITION
So whenever we don't have an egg decorating competition‚ we normally have an Easter Bonnet decorating one! Pupils are given a paper easter bonnet (although they're free to provide their own) and they just need to let their imagination fly and return it decorated alongside £1. Parents are encouraged to pop in and see the entrees! They are normally great fun and you will see many different ideas and just what artistic children we have at Newbold. Prizes will be given out to the winners in the final assemble before we break up for Easter.
EASTER EGG HUNT
We all know and celebrate the true reason for Easter but‚ for a couple of hours during one morning in April‚ Newbold children will have nothing but chocolate on their minds as an egg hunt will be arranged for the all the children to participate in. This as you can imagine‚ is back every year by popular demand!
This is an afternoon of pure relaxation and being spoilt with massages, nail treatments, foot treatments and so on‚ followed by delicious cakes and treats. Details of packages will be confirmed a month before the event is held‚ however‚ this is a very popular event that sells out quickly‚ so don't delay your booking to avoid disappointment.
THE BIG ONE!! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year‚ which takes a massive amount of organising but always turns out to be an amazing family day out for the whole school and local community. This is the event that people really do come out of the woodwork to support. In our opinion‚ Newbold school has the best fete food you will get anywhere in Berkshire (and beyond!!). Great entertainment is assured from Newbold's Got Talent to archery, from face painting to tug of war‚ bouncy castle‚ hook the duck‚ decorate your biscuit‚ bric a brac and much more! There really is something for all the family.
