Dear Visitor,
Welcome to Newbold School, where our motto is ‘a great start for a great future’, which is exactly what we provide for our children. During those first formative years, it is so important to start with introducing and embedding good social skills and values as well as sound academics.
Newbold School is a lovely little Christian primary school, where each of our children are known as individuals. Newbold’s family atmosphere makes it a very special place. Our staff are friendly and nurturing and our children are taught the importance of showing respect to every living creature and to their environment. We value outdoor learning and offer many Forest School activities. We are fortunate to be surrounded by a wealth of woods and gardens, to which we have free access.
At Newbold, we approach our learning through a strong growth mindset. It is the effort that counts rather than a page full of easy gains. Engendering the desire to meet challenges ensures that each child is given the opportunity to be the best they can be and to be proud of each and every achievement because it has been well earned. If something is without challenge, regardless of the child’s ability, it is not enough. At Newbold, effort is key to success in all endeavours of life and we encourage growing confidence through valuing each child’s personal best. We believe that confident children feel more empowered to make good life choices.

BRITISH VALUES
Democracy:
Britain is a democracy; the people of Britain vote for those who make British laws and decide how the country is governed. Democracy is reflected at Newbold School through our School Council, which is comprised of representatives democratically elected from Years 1-6, who help us make decisions that improve our school in a variety of ways.
Individual Liberty:
In Britain we are fortunate to be able to live as we choose and believe as we wish, within the confines of the law and without infringing on anyone else’s rights, of course. This British value is reflected through encouraging our children to think for themselves, to share their opinions/thoughts both in lessons and in small groups, within the boundaries of respecting the liberty of others.
Tolerance:
As a Seventh-day Adventist school, our Christian faith encourages us to love our neighbour; people of other faiths with beliefs different to our own are our neighbours. At Newbold School, we show respect for and kindness to everyone, regardless of their beliefs.
Mutual Respect:
We will not always agree with everyone, but we try to show respect for the ideas and feelings of others. Respect Times Five, our behaviour code of conduct, reminds us to respect ourselves, our peers, our staff and parents, people of different cultures, nationalities and faiths and the environment in which we live. We hope that others will show respect for us too.
The Rule of Law:
In Britain, the police force makes sure that people do not break the law. The rule of law protects people and promotes the wellbeing and safety of all citizens, just as our class and school rules, when kept, help us to stay safe at Newbold School. We believe that learning to keep school rules is a precursor to children becoming law-abiding citizens. All Newbold School staff are responsible for ensuring that our children keep these rules.
HISTORY OF NEWBOLD SCHOOL
Newbold School is an independent fee-paying primary school nestled in the village of Binfield, near Bracknell, Berkshire. The School is owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, making it part of one of the largest Christian education networks in the world and is located next to Newbold Seventh-day Adventist Church and Newbold College of Higher Education.

Education and faith
Although Newbold School provides a Christian education, it welcomes students of other faiths or no faith. It is a small school with small classes which enables students to have more one-on-one time with their teachers. Newbold School is known for its culturally diverse enrolment and family-like atmosphere. Newbold prides itself on providing a warm, caring environment for its students and on prioritising the social, spiritual, emotional, academic and physical development.
The School values respect for everyone and also for the environment, having developed a growing interest in outdoor education, conscientious use of resources, recycling and intentional awareness of the natural world around us. The Newbold curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and has been customised to reflect the interests and backgrounds of its pupils, to provide a diverse range of exciting experiences and to support the aims and values of the school. Academically, the school is known particularly for music and drama, and the curriculum also includes humanities, science, physical education, religious education, art, maths, English, and computing.
History
The school was founded in September 1941 at Newbold Revel near Rugby in Warwickshire. The headteacher was A.J Raitt and there was one teacher at that time - Vera Hardiman. The school was opened to serve the children of students attending Newbold College, (which was a seminary university for the Seventh-day Adventist Church, also then located in Newbold Revel).
Some months after the war ended (December 1945 - January 1946), the School and College moved to Binfield in Berkshire. The School was originally housed on the College campus, which at the time offered a teaching degree and the opportunity for students to carry out their teaching practice in the School. In 1963, the School moved to its current site next to Newbold Seventh-day Adventist Church (then Binfield Seventh-day Adventist Church) on Popeswood Road in Binfield.
Although the School originally educated students up to the age of 16, pupils over 11 years of age were phased out in the 1970s.
